ABOUT VERMONT PATIENTS ALLIANCE

Vermont Patients Alliance (VPA) was founded in 2013 by a group of dedicated physicians, nurses, scientists, and local business leaders with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide safe, high-quality cannabis to patients in need. As one of the first medical cannabis dispensaries in Vermont, VPA helped shape the foundation of the state’s cannabis program prioritizing compassion, education, and sustainable practices from day one.

Over time, VPA grew into a trusted name in Vermont’s cannabis landscape. But like many in the industry, it was eventually acquired by a national corporation Curaleaf as consolidation swept across the country. For years, VPA operated under corporate ownership, until something remarkable happened.

In a rare reversal of the typical narrative, VPA was brought back into local Vermont hands.

In 2024, Zenbarn an independent, family-owned business founded by the Fishman family of Waterbury purchased VPA and its cultivation, manufacturing, and dispensary operations from Curaleaf. This acquisition marked a powerful and uncommon shift: from corporate back to community, from consolidation to local ownership. It’s a one-of-a kind story in the national cannabis industry.

Zenbarn operates the popular Zenbarn Farms recreational dispensary in Waterbury, as well as the award-winning Zenbarn music and events venue a vibrant cultural hub that celebrates food, music, wellness, and activism. Now, with VPA under the same roof, Zenbarn is uniting cannabis, culture, and community like never before.
