Vermont Patients Alliance (VPA) is proud to be one of the original pioneers of legal cannabis in Vermont. Founded in 2013 by a group of physicians, nurses, scientists, and local business leaders, VPA was one of only three organizations selected to launch the state’s medical marijuana program. We were the first licensed cannabis dispensary in Montpelier—and we’ve been serving patients ever since.

Who can purchase medical cannabis in Vermont?
Only registered patients and caregivers with a valid Vermont Medical Marijuana Registry (MMR) card can legally purchase medical cannabis from a licensed dispensary.
How do I become a registered medical marijuana patient in Vermont?
You must be diagnosed with a qualifying condition by a licensed healthcare provider and apply through the Vermont Cannabis Control Board (CCB). Visit the CCB Medical Program FAQ for complete details.

How long is a Vermont medical cannabis card valid?
Medical cannabis cards are valid for three years from the date of issue. Annual check-ins with your provider are still encouraged.
What conditions qualify for medical cannabis in Vermont?
Qualifying conditions include chronic pain, PTSD, cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and more. A full list is available on the CCB Medical FAQ page.
Can out-of-state patients use their medical card in Vermont?
No. Vermont does not currently accept out-of-state medical cannabis cards.
What do I need to bring to the dispensary?
You must present a valid MMR patient or caregiver card and a government-issued photo ID.
Can I bring someone with me?
Only registered caregivers may accompany patients inside the dispensary.
What are the monthly purchase limits for patients?
Patients may purchase up to 2 ounces of cannabis flower or its equivalent in other forms every 30 days.
What products are available at your dispensary?
We offer a full range of lab-tested medical cannabis products, including premium flower, tinctures, edibles, capsules, vapes, concentrates, and topicals.
Do medical patients have access to stronger products than recreational users?
Yes. Medical products are exempt from Vermont’s potency caps, giving patients access to higher-dose edibles and potent concentrates not available in the adult-use market.
Are CBD-rich or low-THC products available?
Absolutely. We carry a variety of CBD-dominant and balanced products to meet diverse medical needs.
Do you provide product guidance or consultations?
Yes. We offer free consultations to help patients find the right product and dosage for their needs.
Do you offer delivery for medical cannabis?
Yes. We currently deliver to Washington and Chittenden Counties, with plans to expand based on demand.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept debit cards, cash, and ACH payments via AeroPay. An ATM is available on-site.

Is medical cannabis taxed in Vermont?
No. Medical cannabis is tax-free, unlike recreational cannabis which carries a 20% combined tax.
How do I renew or update my registration?
Your registration is valid for three years. To update your information or start a renewal, visit the CCB Medical Program page. Our staff can also assist you in person or by phone.
How is medical cannabis different from recreational cannabis?
Medical cannabis offers higher potency options, tax-free pricing, personalized care, and access to exclusive products and discounts—benefits not available to adult-use consumers.
